At the University of Michigan School of Nursing, we’re committed to helping students make the most of available financial aid resources. There are a wide variety of resources available—from university-wide support and School of Nursing-specific aid to private scholarships. The U-M Office of Financial Aid (OFA) is the central resource for university-level aid, including scholarships, loans, grants and work-study programs. Students are encouraged to connect with OFA when planning how to finance their Michigan education.

When you apply for aid, the Office of Financial Aid uses information from your FAFSA and/or CSS Profile to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid programs. Visit the OFA website for key dates and deadlines.

The Go Blue Guarantee  is the University of Michigan's commitment to keeping a world-class education affordable and accessible for all Michigan residents pursuing undergraduate study. Continuing and incoming students who qualify for free tuition through the Go Blue Guarantee and are enrolled in the School of Nursing now receive coverage for the full cost of attendance, including housing costs and fees.

  • Eligibility: Michigan families with family incomes of $125,000 or less and assets below $125,000.
  • Coverage: Continuing and incoming undergraduate students who qualify will receive free tuition. For School of Nursing students, coverage extends to the full cost of attendance, including housing and fees.

Eligible master’s and doctoral students may apply for up to $40,000 per academic year for educationally related expenses.

NFLP is a direct loan program that includes a loan cancellation benefit. Up to 85% of the loan may be forgiven for borrowers who serve a full-time nurse faculty member (as defined by HRSA) for four consecutive years after graduation.

NFLP funding is awarded on a term-by-term basis and is not guaranteed. Funding is subject to availability and continued approval by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Students must apply before the start of each term, and the UMSN Financial Aid Office will notify graduate students when applications become available. Additional program information and eligibility requirements is provided in the application materials.
