Web/Video Conferencing
The School of Nursing utilizes Centra, a web conferencing tool, for web based conferencing where the meeting participants may not be in the same geographic area. Many of the online class "discussions", monthly technical or committee meetings, and conferences utilize this tool. The School of Nursing "shares" the 60 seats with four other schools, so a date and time must be reserved in advance.
That said, university offers many additional resources for web and/or video conferencing based on your requirements, i.e. date and time, number of participants, recorded, etc. IT will meet with you to discuss your requirements and then assist you to determine the best resource to meet your needs. To schedule a meeting, email to son-it@umich.edu.
Off-Site Support
Any request that requires SoN IT staff to leave the School of Nursing premises is considered off-site support. SoN IT may provide some limited off-site support for faculty and staff and is generally limited to events in which the School of Nursing is a primary participant (e.g. MNRS). Approval of off-site support is made on a case by case basis according to the availability of staff and transportation. SoN IT must receive requests for off-site support within Ann Arbor city limits at least two weeks prior to the requested date of support and at least 4 weeks prior for sites outside of Ann Arbor.
Extended Support
SoN IT may provide extended or supplemental technical support to faculty, departments, or research projects. Requests for extended support must be received by SoN IT 3 weeks in advance. A flat rate will be charged for extended services and a SLA (service level agreement) defining terms of support must be signed by SoN IT and the requesting party before additional support can be provided.

Databases
The SoN IT department, together with faculty, OBFA, and OAA, has developed a Clinical Placement database to facilitate clinical placements within the School of Nursing. The Clinical Placement database includes a series of modules combined with information extracted from the Mpathwqays system (i.e. student, course, and registration data) together with contract/agency, site and unit data entered by OBFA to facilitate OAA and clinical coordinators with the clinical placement process. This database is currently being piloted with staff from OAA and OBFA.
If you are considering creating a database, please check with a SoN IT team member (son-it@umich.edu) to see if the information you need already exists in one of our databases or in M-Pathways.
