PROGRAM OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES
The Adult Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care) (ANP) track prepares advanced practice nurses for the current and evolving primary care health care system. In addition, graduates are prepared to diagnose and treat common acute problems such as infections and injuries and diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Our program prepares students to provide direct patient care as well as participate in research, education and policy issues relevant to advanced practice nursing and health care issues of concern for diverse populations. Our graduates are employed in very diverse settings including community-based centers, managed care organizations/HMO, local health departments, hospices, emergency rooms, and the Peace Corps to name a few.
