Standardized Tests
The PhD Program has revised the policy on GRE scores for those students who are applying to the Program. Previously, examination scores were accepted within five years of completing the GRE. As of May, 2006, the GRE policy is as follows:

Scores from GREs completed in any year will be accepted as long as official score reports or the applicant’s original report are available. The Admissions Committee will accept any of the following:

  • Official score reports from ETS for those examinations completed with five years;
  • Official score reports (not photocopies) sent to the applicant and submitted as part of their application;
  • GRE scores listed on official transcripts from another college or university;
  • A memo, secured by the applicant, presented on another school’s letterhead that states the GRE original score report was submitted directly to that college or university by ETS on a specified date, the original score report is being maintained by that college or university, and a photocopy or the original score report is attached; this correspondence must be signed by a official at the school (such as program director, registrar, or Dean).

If scores are not within acceptable ranges, it may be necessary for an applicant to repeat the GRE.

Any questions about GRE scores can be submitted to the PhD Program office.
