School of Nursing Graduate Scholarships
Financial aid for graduate students is limited compared with what is available for undergraduates, but there are still meaningful resources to help support your education. Most aid administered by the U-M Office of Financial Aid is in the form of loan and Work-Study programs. The School of Nursing also has scholarship funding available that does not require repayment and may be awarded based on:
- Merit
- Financial Need (FAFSA)
- Donor Directed Criteria
Incoming students are typically notified of any school-awarded scholarships within two weeks of receiving their admission offer, while returning students are notified before the start of the academic year. No application is necessary.
To maximize your opportunities, we recommend completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year and keeping your My Scholarship Profile in Wolverine Access up to date.
U-M School of Nursing provides a comprehensive funding package—including full tuition, a monthly stipend, and health insurance—for students admitted to the Ph.D. program. This support allows full-time study while gaining research experience with a faculty mentor. Ph.D. students should remain engaged with their faculty mentor, Rackham Graduate School, and the Office of Financial Aid to explore additional funding opportunities.

- The Rackham Graduate Student Research Grant provides funding to help graduate students conduct research that supports their academic and degree progress.
- U-M School of Nursing New Investigator Research Award may provide funding to support research-related expenses for Ph.D. students with approved dissertation proposals.
