Office of Financial Aid
The University’s central source of information on nursing student loans, guaranteed student loans, and work-study programs. Loan programs available include the Federal Perkins Loan and Federal Stafford Loan programs. This office also offers short-term, emergency loans. You should apply as early as possible. Also, note that loan availability, payback arrangements, and maximum loan amounts vary from year to year. More.

The Rackham Graduate School Fellowships Office administers many grants, fellowships, and graduate assistantships. Incoming students requesting financial aid are required to complete an application form provided by the program office. Submission of the application will ensure that incoming graduate students are considered for University grants, fellowships, and graduate student assistantships. A list of the major fellowship programs, application deadlines, eligibility requirements, and addresses for applications and/or further information is available from the Fellowship Office. More.

The Rackham Merit Fellowship Program for Historically Underrepresented Groups offers merit-based awards to minority graduate students. The awards include tuition, fees and a stipend. Students can obtain specific information from the Fellowships Office or the School of Nursing Office of Multicultural Affairs. More.

The Center for the Education of Women
The CEW provides counseling and information on academic programs, child care, community resources and job searches. They also maintain a loan and reference library. The annual CEW scholarship competition provides over 30 scholarships each year to women whose education has at some time been interrupted for at least 24 consecutive months. School of Nursing Aid and Scholarships
Professional Nurse Traineeships are funded by the Division of Nursing, Public Health Service, Department of Health and Human Services. The funds are administered by the Director for Student Affairs in consultation with the directors of the various degree programs of the School of Nursing. The PNTP awards provide varying levels of support, including partial or full tuition, and/or a stipend allowance to nurse practitioners. Should the student be terminated or withdraw before the end of a term, s/he is required to pay back any scholarship monies received for that term unless this requirement is waived by the Director for Student Affairs. Upon graduation, students must accept employment in teaching, administration, or supervision, or in the nursing specialty for which they received support.
PNTP grants are available to U.S. citizens and non-citizen permanent residents who are enrolled as full-time graduate students (8 credit hours or more). Division Directors nominate students in their programs for PNTP awards. Students should consult with their graduate program about nomination for these awards.
Professional Association and Private Foundation Grants: The School of Nursing periodically receives announcements of grants and fellowships for master's and doctoral study and research funded by professional associations and private foundations. These notices are maintained in the Office for Student Affairs and/or the Office for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Studies. The file is made available to students for their use within the office. Announcements are also sent to each division for posting and are posted in the School of Nursing. Students are urged to consider this source of funds. Also, students should be aware that applications for these awards are usually made directly to the funding organization.
Block Grants are administered by the Director for Student Affairs in consultation with the program directors. Students must register for at least 6 credit hours to be eligible for a Block grant award and should consult with their graduate program about nomination for these awards. Interested individuals may apply for these grants at the same time they submit their program application materials. The division director can provide detailed information on application procedures.
The School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs
The School of Nursing has a financial aid fund available to all students.
Aid from this fund, usually in small amounts, is awarded by decision of a committee
appointed by the Director for Student Affairs. Students are encouraged to apply
if they are concerned that their financial situation is affecting their academic
record, if they are working more hours than is academically appropriate, and
if they have incurred significant educational loan indebtedness. Applications
are available in the Office for Student Affairs or you can download
an application include the completed budget
worksheet.

Nursing Student Scholarships and Loan Funds
The Nursing Alumni Society supports a number of scholarships including: The Esther S. McCleery, Rhoda R. Russell, and Class of 1956 scholarship. In addition, outside organizations occasionally contact the School of Nursing expressing interest in assisting nursing students. Notices regarding these scholarships are posted on the bulletin boards on the first level of the School of Nursing. Each scholarship has corresponding eligibility criteria.
