Dr. Michelle Aebersold’s research and clinical practice areas include using simulation, on-line technologies, and virtual reality as part of nursing school curriculum to educate and train nursing students. Use of the simulated technologies provides the opportunity for students to practice in a realistic simulated healthcare environment and contributes to developing and sharpening their clinical skills while exposing them to the use of modern medical technologies.
Dr. Aebersold’s clinical background includes neuroscience and critical care, including leadership positions with a focus on leadership and work environments. She serves as a member of the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing’s Manuscript Review Board and is lead for the Simulation Task Force Planning Committee and lead faculty for the school’s clinical learning center.
Dr. Aebersold is the Co-PI on a CRLT funded study “Increasing Clinical Competencies for Nursing Students using Simulated Virtual Experiences in Second Life” and the Co-PI on a BCBS funded study, “Interruptions and multitasking in nursing”. |
