Dr. Bruggeman teaches undergraduate courses in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology at the School of Nursing.  She is currently creating an on line graduate course in Pathophysiological for Master’s level Nurse Practitioner students.   In her courses, she encourages student to develop evidence based practice by applying basic science principles to nursing care and health promotion.  

Dr Bruggeman has experience in interdisciplinary work having taught courses in health promotion and epidemiology for the Department of Kinesiology and the RN Studies Programs. She has participated in several advanced genetic educational programs. 

 Dr. Bruggeman’s present scholarly interest is in the adaptive and maladaptive aspects of the inflammatory and immune responses. She incorporates into her classes the most recent evidence of the unifying role of chronic inflammation in such diverse diseases as cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease.  She presents the molecular and cellular changes that occur and emphasizes the positive feed- back mechanisms involved.
