Elaine McIntosh, MSN, RN, CS, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who practices in partnership with Sherry Nelson, RN, CS at North Campus Family Health Service. This practice serves the international residents of North Campus and their families. Half of the patients are children under the age of five, and the patients represent 83 countries, thus providing broad cultural diversity in the practice. In additional to graduate nursing students assigned to this practice, Ms. McIntosh works with students from the School of Public Health, School of Pharmacy, and School of Social Work for field assignments in community assessment, counseling and community organization. Ms. McIntosh's research interests include health promotion in the community and among diverse cultures. She is currently the site principal investigator for a Robert Wood Johnson project submitted by the Midwest Nursing Center Consortium to evaluate integration of health promotion teaching within primary care nurse-managed clinics. In her role as Director of the Nurse Managed Centers, Ms. McIntosh has published on the role of a financial advisory committee in strengthening the financial outcomes of nurse-managed centers. An earlier publication looked at nurse-sensitive outcomes in primary care.
