What is the difference between an online CV and a Portfolio?

In broadest terms, an online CV is just your same old CV (or résumé) in an online format (PDF, HTML web pages, or served off a database service). (example)

A portfolio is highly selective. It is not a collection of everything you've ever done. (You might put that on a web site somewhere, but it would not be considered a portfolio.) If you think of a CV as the list of everything you've ever done, and résumé as a pared-down CV, you might think of a portfolio as covering a similar number of topics as a résumé, but in greater depth.
