Grants and Research Office
Mission
The mission of the School of Nursing Grants and Research Office
is to provide quality support services for faculty to enable them
to increase resources for the conduct of nursing research and
the implementation of innovative projects in nursing education,
service and clinical and research training. The Office also promotes
public awareness of scientific discoveries by UM nurse researchers
and facilitates the timely application of research to health policy.
Goals
*Promote basic and applied nursing research directed toward
promoting health, preventing disease, minimizing the effects of
illness, restoring health and improving the quality of life for
people of all ages.
- Increase the number of faculty who hold externally-funded
grants.
- Increase the number of faculty who obtain and successfully
manage multiple grants.
- Increase media coverage of nursing science in collaboration
with other School of Nursing and University units.
- Facilitate international research partnerships.
- Assist faculty in developing creative strategies for the
application of science to policy at local, state & natl. levels.
- Facilitate faculty in seeking support for dissemination of
scientific discoveries and related technology.
- Build endowment funds for stable support of the research infrastructure
in the School.
*Assist faculty in obtaining grants for new directions
in undergraduate and graduate education and training as well
as health service initiatives.
- Assist faculty to prepare competitive nursing education, training,
and service proposals for external funding.
- Increase the number of grants supporting innovative education
and service activities within the School.
- Facilitate international nursing education and service partnerships.
- Assist the School in modeling future directions in nursing
education and nursing practice.
