HealthPlace 101 is a unique school-based health center funded through the University of Michigan and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, in collaboration with the Ann Arbor Public Schools. We have been in existence since 1996 with a goal of improving children's overall well-being and success in school.
Healthy children make better students.
When they feel good, they focus on learning!
HealthPlace 101 is located in Carpenter and Bryant Elementary and Scarlett Middle Schools with extended services to Pittsfield and Mitchell Elementary Schools. There are Pediatric Nurse Practitioners on staff at these sites to diagnose and treat illness, as well as prescribe medications. There are social workers on staff to give counseling and referral services. Physicians are also available, to provide services at HealthPlace 101. All students and their family members can come to HealthPlace 101. Students may also be referred to HealthPlace 101 by principals, teachers, school nurses and social workers.
Services available at no cost include:
Referrals to community resources
Diagnosis and treatment of childhood illness
Physical examinations and immunizations
Group and family counseling
Dental screenings
Health education
