International Scholars Program
The University of Michigan School of Nursing receives requests to provide
different kinds of non-degree training opportunities for international
colleagues. Some of these requests come from governmental or
international agencies such as the World Health organization, others come
from institutions to accommodate their faculties, some come from senior
faculty mentors to locate appropriate experiences for their doctoral
students, and some come from individuals who are aiming to design
meaningful ways to spend their sabbatical and study leave periods. The
School of Nursing responds to such requests as a way of providing an
important service to the international community. All relevant resources
within the University are utilized to design an individualized program of
study. When the focus of the visit involves advanced practice, we
collaborate with colleagues from the University of Michigan Health System
and medical center to provide these experiences to meet identified needs.
For a fuller description, see the paper by Dr. Ketefian, Director of
International Affairs.
Procedures and guidelines are in place for review of applications for both
short-term and long-term training for visiting scholars. These are
described as well.
