Case Studies and Critical Incidents

The field of nursing is one in which health care providers encounter numerous people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and practices. As a nursing student, RN or Nurse Practitioner, you will encounter people from different races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, socio-economic statuses, religions, levels of ability, genders, ages, etc. The following resources and examples offer you an opportunity to practice clinical assessments in the contexts of various social identity memberships. By reading and analyzing case studies and critical incidents, practitioners can gain insight into a variety of factors that affect health and health care.
