GRADUATION EVENTS IMPACT CAMPUS PARKING Several recognition events and graduation ceremonies, including Spring Commencement, will be held next week, April 27-29 (Friday through Sunday) at various campus venues. Some of the venues include the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre, Hill Auditorium, the Power Center, Rackham Auditorium, the Art and Architecture Building, Crisler Arena and Michigan Stadium. In order to accommodate parents and family members who will be attending these events, while continuing regular Friday University business, several adjustments will be implemented in campus parking lots. PERMIT SUSPENSION On Friday and Saturday (April 27 and 28), enforcement of parking permits on North Campus, Central Campus and South Campus will be suspended and AVI gates at parking structures will be open. This suspension, however, does not pertain to Medical Campus parking lots, where parking enforcement will be maintained as indicated. Enforcement of handicap parking permits and other state parking laws (i.e., no parking in fire lanes) also will continue in all lots. On Friday, most events are scheduled in the afternoon or evening, so permit holders arriving in the morning should not be impacted.
SOUTH CAMPUS CLOSURES To allow tent and equipment set-up around Michigan Stadium and provide parking for the events in Crisler Arena that begin Friday at 4 p.m., the main Crisler Arena parking lots will be closed to incoming vehicles at 3 p.m. Friday (April 27). This includes SC4 (north of Crisler Arena near Kipke Drive and Greene Street), SC5 (on Kipke Drive between the Stadium and Transportation Services), SC6 (between Crisler Arena and the Campus Safety Services Building (CSSB)) and SC7 (south of CSSB along Stadium Boulevard). Some spaces in SC4 closest to the Stadium will be closed to parking the entire day. Employees who are working Friday beyond 5 p.m. are encouraged to park in a lot further north of the Stadium/Crisler area – SC12 (Buhr Building along Greene St.), SC13 and SC 14 (south end of Buhr Building), SC32 (metered lot on corner of Greene and Hoover) and SC37 (Revelli Hall on Hoover). Permit enforcement will be suspended in these lots for the two days. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with these parking adjustments. The thousands of graduates and their guests as well as our faculty and staff will be attending and supporting these events will appreciate your efforts.
